The University of Utah Community Engagement In Planning course is working with Salt Lake City in its Gentrification Assessment and Displacement Mitigation Plan. The student team collectively interviewed 440 individuals to understand community opinions about neighborhood change and housing affordability. We also documented and mapped community assets—the special places, people, or organizations that contribute to a sense of place. We wish to thank all in our community for your support during this past virtual meeting year. We as a board have grown strong in our desire to provide events and information to draw us into an actively friendly and inclusive community.

  • The Wasatch Hollow Garden event drew in many old and new members to a thriving garden led by Clark and Bill.
  • Our new Urban Forest subcommittee is working to provide valuable service and information in the coming years led by Barbara Ballingham and Laurie Bryant.
  • Joining the 4th of July Burgers & Band was a successful endeavor.
  • We welcomed the 1st Summer Luau and appreciated the Ice Cream Social by our Colonial Hills Ward neighbors.

We hope to sponsor and participate in other events in the 2022 year and would welcome your input as to what events you might enjoy. We meet again as a Community Council on January 26, 2022, at 7:00pm. We hope to see many of you again then. Have a very safe and healthy holiday season.

Your Wasatch Hollow Community Council Board,

Wasatch Community Garden Open House

Thanks to everyone that attended our open house on Saturday, September 18th!  If you missed it, please stop by and check out our amazing community garden (it’s located above 16th East on Kensington Ave, down alley to the south, toward the park).

We had a great turnout for our open house and enjoyed introducing the garden to members of the community that had not experienced it yet.  Information was shared about the garden and gardening; even a little free gardening book library just for the event.  Thanks to all of you that signed up for a plot for next year!  Urban Forestry information on your park-strip trees was also shared.  Plus, we had lots of fun with our art project of painting rocks.

Thanks again for your support and we look forward to seeing you in the garden!
