WASATCH HOLLOW COMMUNITY COUNCIL

The purpose of the Wasatch Hollow Community Council is to involve citizens in identifying issues, plans, and projects that enhance the beauty, safety, vibrancy, and retain the character of Wasatch Hollow neighborhoods, businesses, and historical and natural resources. The Community Council sponsors, supports, and provides a voice on such issues to governing bodies, public and private service agencies, the community at large, and any other organization or individual that may directly affect the vitality of the Wasatch Hollow area and its residents.

Emergency Preparedness - Don Hartley. State Architect from the State Historic Preservation Office, will speak about the basic principles and an overview of the steps that can be taken to retrofit unreinforced masonry homes against earthquakes, including anchoring the rafters to the top plate on the walls, the walls to the floor joists, reinforcing interior walls, and other steps to protect yourself against a major earthquake. Open Space - The purpose of the Wasatch Hollow Open Space Committee has been and continues to be to preserve and protect open space within the Wasatch Hollow community. Our next meeting will take place on July 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the Anderson-Foothill Library. At this meeting the Open Space Committee will be electing a new chairperson. We will have a sign-up sheet available at the general WHCC meeting so that anyone who wishes to join us can provide contact information.

Neighbors of the Gully

1. Private Property Rights

2. Habitat -Preservation before restoration.

3. Restriction of public access which has an affect on 1 and 2.

4.Reparation plans for lost property or fencing that may be necessary due to any project.

5.A long term plan and funding for any project. If additional areas are to be purchased use plans and funding should be determined before purchase, not decided later and subject to change depending upon the political winds.

On the fourth Thursday of the month, April through September, 7-10 am , the Salt Lake Valley Health Department will be holding a household hazardous waste community collection at Sugarhouse Park, by the Garden Center, 2100 S. 1602 E. (NE corner of the park, west of Highland HS)
