Why is 16th East so wide?

E-mail Print PDF
It was an agreement among the city, the developers Meeks & McCartney, and George M. Cannon.  It was designed as a "boulevard street" 100 feet wide.  The extra width was given to the city so that the developers didn't have to do street improvements there.  See the Salt Lake Herald, April 9, 1910.
