Winter concerns - SLC Fire Department, Research Park Station 13
- Make sure carbon monoxide alarms are working
- Should have alarms in high occupancy rooms in the house, especially bedrooms
- Firemen will come to house and provide consultation on installation
Proposition 1 (Public Safety Building bond) - SLCPD Chief Chris Burbank
- Reviewed history of the bond proposition and the needs for a new facility
- No intention to build in the city library block
- Bond will cover all expenses

Wasatch Hollow Stories project - Annalisa Steggell, Director, Community Relations, Westminster College
- Sugar House Summit
- Monthly meeting on Westminster campus
- October theme: Food and Sustainability (family and community gardens, farmers’ market)
- November theme: Community History
- November 14th, 10:00-Noon
- Presentation on how to celebrate historic homes
- Workshop on cataloging and preserving memory
- Workshop on oral history will launch Wasatch Hollow Stories Project
Proposed Sidewalk Assessment Area – Mark Brinton
- Sidewalk maintenance is joint responsibility of property owner and city
- Many residents have received estimate of the cost of cement work. Ken Taylor of the city’s engineering department s willing to come out and explain the estimate
- Opportunity to redo sidewalks about every 20 years
- Property owners can protest proposed sidewalk assessment area. If owners of more than 50 percent of the linear sidewalk are oppose, the assessment area will be cancelled by the city
- City will put tax lien on property if the owner cannot pay
- Payment can be spread over 5 years beginning in 2011
- Final bid due in December
Proposed Alcohol Normalization Ordinance – Mark Brinton
- Would allow bars in neighborhood business districts
- Affects business districts at 15th and 15th and 13th and 17th.
- Part of the motivation for the proposal is to bring city ordinances in line with the new state alcohol law
Open Space Update - Lindsey Christensen, Chair, Open Space Committee
- October Wasatch Hollow Open Space clean up and acorn planting event was a success.
- City has postponed November open space planning meeting; may meet in December
- Encouraged residents to support the Wasatch Hollow Opens Space Stewardship Program
Wasatch Presbyterian Church Community Meeting – Mark Brinton
- October meeting discussed ways of involving the church in the community including starting a community garden on church property
- The church was invited to participate in the Wasatch Hollow Open Space Project

- Encouraged residents to look out for kids Halloween Night
